“An AI channel makes $1,000 a month”, “AI makes the videos, you collect the money” — you’ll see these promises in course ads and “passive income” videos. Reality is more complicated: AI channels do earn, but their income differs tenfold, and nobody can promise a specific number in advance.

Where the income comes from

The main income is a share of ad revenue. The math is simple: views ÷ 1,000 × RPM, where RPM is what the creator earns per thousand views.

RPM differs a lot between channels:

  • niche — finance, tech and business usually pay more than entertainment;
  • audience country — ads for viewers in the US and Europe cost more;
  • format — long videos usually earn more than Shorts;
  • retention — the longer people watch, the more ads are shown;
  • season — ads are pricier at the end of the year.

So the same 100,000 views can earn several times more on one AI channel than on another.

Why everyone quotes different numbers

  • Channels in course ads are the best cases, not the average.
  • An English channel in an expensive niche is compared with a channel in cheap entertainment.
  • People rarely say how many videos and months it took.
  • Sometimes “income” includes selling courses about that same channel.

How long until the first money

To get ad revenue, a channel has to meet the Partner Program thresholds: 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours in 12 months, or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. From February 1, 2027, new channels need 8,000 hours or 20 million Shorts views. For a new channel that’s usually months of consistent work — and only with the right niche and format.

An AI channel also has to pass the originality review: Will an AI-content channel get monetized?

What affects an AI channel’s income most

  1. Niche — sets ad prices and competition: YouTube niches for AI channels.
  2. Language and audience country.
  3. Originality — decides whether there is monetization at all.
  4. Consistency and retention.

FAQ

How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views on an AI channel?

The same as any channel: it depends on niche, audience country, format and season — not on whether the video was made with AI.

Can an AI channel make $1,000 a month?

It can, but that’s the result of a channel with steady views in a suitable niche, usually after months of work. Nobody can guarantee that amount in advance.

Is an AI channel passive income?

Not really: a channel needs regular videos, analysis and improvement. AI cuts production time but doesn’t remove the work on niche, scripts and packaging.
