You sign in and the channel is gone. Or it’s blocked, or scam live streams are running instead of your videos. It’s one of the most stressful situations a creator can face.

I have helped creators with hijacked channels more than once. Results varied, and that’s exactly why it matters to know where to start.

The key: the order of actions

The most common mistake is trying to recover the channel without first recovering access to the Google account. The channel is controlled by the account, and as long as the attacker has access to it, any requests are pointless.

So the logic is: secure the account first, then the channel. One problem, one request, with exact dates and supporting evidence.

What to remember in the first hours

  • Speed matters: the sooner the platform gets your request, the better the chances.
  • Don’t pay a “ransom” to scammers: it doesn’t guarantee anything and invites new attempts.
  • Don’t delete the email or change data until you understand the picture.
  • Record what happened and when: password-change emails, sign-in alerts, screenshots.

Why the results differ

In some cases the channel comes back and the creator can keep working. In others the platform replies that the hack isn’t confirmed, and the channel stays unavailable. The outcome depends on the account’s history, how it was compromised, whether there are extra accounts, and the quality of the request.

In practice there have been cases where, after the right steps, access to the channel was restored. And cases where it wasn’t possible to help. Honestly: nobody can guarantee the result here.

How to protect yourself in advance

  • Two-step verification and an up-to-date phone number.
  • A separate email for the channel and trusted devices.
  • A review of channel permissions: who got a role, and when.
  • Caution with “ad offers” and files from strangers.

What next

If the channel is already hijacked, time works against you. Which recovery path is realistic for you depends on the details. In a consultation I’ll review your situation and tell you the chances and the order of actions.

If you aren’t sure this is what happened to you, write to me and I’ll tell you where to start.
